Absolut empfehlenswert, 2. November 2008

Ich kann dieses Vorbereitungsbuch wärmstens empfehlen. Es ist inhaltlich sehr dicht und geht sehr weit über den offiziellen PM Guide hinaus. Meiner Meinung nach ist es als alleiniges Buch zur Vorbereitung auf die PMP Zertifizierung absolut ausreichend.Das einzige was mich etwas gestört hat, war der aus meiner Sicht ein wenig aggressive Tonfall. Kapitel die damit beginnen, dass Rita eine Geschichte von einem Projektmanager erzählt, der Ihr stolz schildert wie er eine Krisensituation gemeistert hat, und sie nur meint sie wundere sich, dass er nicht wegen schlechten Projektmanagements gefeuert worden ist, lassen einem richtig warm ums Herz werden...Abgesehen davon ist das Buch aber wie gesagt absolut empfehlenswert.

      Ein "Muss" für die PMP Vorbereitung!, 6. März 2008

Wer sich auf den PMP vorbereitet, braucht mal sicher als Basis das PMBOK. Dies alleine reicht aber nicht, da die PMP Prüfung viele Themen abdeckt, die nicht im PMBOK sind. Deswegen braucht man daneben noch weiterführende Literatur. Statt nun 20 Bücher über all die möglichen Themen zu lesen fasst "PMP Exam Prep" dies alles zusammen. Rita Mulcahy weiss sehr genau, was an der Prüfung gefragt wird und wie es gefragt wird - kein Wunder, hat sie doch selbst viele Fragen dazu beigetragen! Mit vielen Spielen, Eselsbrücken und Listen macht sie das Lernen einfach. Trotzdem gibt es von mir nur vier Sterne, da ihre lehrmeisterhafte Art manchmal auf die Nerven geht (Wenn Sie das und das nicht machen, sind sie kein guter Projektmanager und gehören gefeuert.....)

Together with some other materials, yes, working through Rita's book is a good preparation for the PMP exam. As a trainer in this field, I am always happy to propose the book.But believing that passing the PMP exams means memorizing the PMBOK Guide is a common misundertanding. CAPM is PMBOK Guide, PMP is allover Project Management Body of Knowledge.You should be aware that the PMP exam is still undergoing change and that items (questions and answers) are still written - not against the PMBOK Guide, they are actually written against the PMP Examination Specification.For a major percentage of the exam items, the PMBOK Guide is the reference which confirms that they are valid and appropriate. But not for all of them. And they are not written against it.Make sure that your preparation is more tham PMBOK Guide and Rita's book, which is to a gret proportion an interpretation of the PMBOK Guide. In addition to Rita's book: If you search the Internet for free PMP sample questions, this will help you to become well prepared.

PMBoK is very condensed, may be a little dry, to make sense for any industry. Rita's book is more down on Earth and helped me a lot to understand easier what PMBoK says, how it is applied in real life. It perfectly follows PMBoK content, but for each chapter Rita presents how to approach each notion, presents practical examples, and exercises. Each chapter contains some exercises accompanied by comments and answers. Also, Rita presents some good tips on how to prepare for exam, where to focus. For sure this book helped me to learn faster for PMP exam. I'd used 3 books: PMBoK, this book and The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management by Eric Verzuh. For tests I'd used PM FASTrack: PMP Exam Simulation Software by Rita Mulcahy. All the preparation was smooth and pleasant. It was so because of Rita's materials. But these materials helps to learn for PMP exam, they do not make anyone a better Project Manager. Nothing can replace real work experience, struggling with deadlines, dealing strong personalities, understand and manage unspoken agenda, face over the night deadlines, etc.

Das PMP Exam Preb ist hervorragend zur Vorbereitung auf die PMP und CAPM Prüfung von PMI geeignet. Es enthält eine Fülle von Fragen und Antworten. Mir hat es sehr geholfen, da die Übersetzung im PMP Examen auf deutsch manchmal sehr missverständlich ist. Hätte die ein oder andere Frage ohne die englischen Begriffe nach der Durcharbeit des Buches wohl nicht beantworten können. Ausserdem gibt das Buch ein Gefühl für die Art der Fragestellung. Ich würde sagen man sollte es sich gönnen.
