Letzter Teil, aber es gibt Ableger, 29. September 2006

Dies ist der 5 und letzte Teil der BLOOD Bücher und er gehört eindeutig zu den stärkeren. Vor allem liegt es daran, dass Huff die Vampire in einem bedrohlicheren Licht zeigt. Die Autorin hatte Henry zwar immer als "Prince of Men" und "Prince of Darkness" bezeichnet, konnte seine dunkle Natur aber nie eindringlich genug schildern. Henry war immer der Schmusebär unter den Vampiren. Vicky ist eine ganz andere Geschichte. Schon als Mensch war sie tough und kompromisslos, als Vampirin ist sie echt beeindruckend. Zwischen ihr und Henry fliegen so richtig die Fetzen.In einer berührenden Nebenhandlung trennt sich Tony von seinem Mentor und Liebhaber. Er wusste schon immer, dass Henry ihn nie so lieben würde wie Vicky (da er ihn nicht als ebenbürtig ansieht, sondern als "Besitz") und deswegen versucht Tony auf eigenen Beinen zu stehen. Wer übrigens mehr von Tony und seinen Eskapaden lesen möchte sollte sich die SMOKE Bücher zulegen (SMOKE AND SHADOWS, S. & MIRRORS, S. & ASHES). Sie ähneln im Stil den BLOOD Büchern, sind aber länger und spielen im Fernsehproduktionsmilieu. Tony ist die Hauptfigur, Henry wird zur Nebenfigur degradiert und Vicky und Celluci werden gelegentlich erwähnt.Bevor man sich BLOOD DEBT zulegt, sollte man sich überlegen, ob man nicht vielleicht BLOOD DEBT BLOOD BANK (BLOOD BOOKS) kaufen möchte. Dieser Sammelband enthält neben BLOOD DEBT alle 8 Kurzgeschichten, die Huff über Henry und Vicky geschrieben hat. Der preisliche Unterschied ist minimal.

       A nice vampire series from a great author, 30. Juni 2000

Another exciting tale of Victory Nelson and Henry Fitzroy comes to an end, tying up most loose ends and leaving a bit of mystery open in the future of these charismatic characters. It is a great vampire series in the tradition of Vivian Vande Velde's Companions of the Night and Tanith Lee's short story Bite-Me-Not--the same issues of romance and relations between mortals and the undead, interestingly resolved here by allowing Victory Nelson's character join Fitzroy as a vampire and thus tying the two together for eternity (with much celebration from readers everywhere). If you like this series but haven't read much else by the author, I suggest that you do--you'll find the same unusual romances and quirky humor in her other books. If you prefer the fantasy scene, try Fifth Quarter and No Quarter--they are shining examples of Huff's amazing style.

       Leave it to Vicki to say "To Hell with tradition", 10. Juni 2000

The tradition that 2 Vampires can't be in the same territory... Henry is being "Haunted",by a ghost with no hands & when he can't Help the wraith, it's killing innocent people. So once again the group teams up to "FIX" the problem. BUT Victory & Henry can not bare to be near each other,,,, & then it gets complicated. Fast, exciting read, frightening as we learn why the ghost is in so much pain and as our 3 Heros strive to find the answers and save lives. I'm very sad to see this end, I'll miss Vicki, Henry, Mike & Tony. I know we could see more in the future, but this read like a wrap to me.

       I Loved These Books, 24. Mai 2000

I loved this book, the entire series was great. The characters are real people, whith their strengths and weeknesses. I love vampire books, and the mythology Huff creates pretty good. They are not evil because of being a vampire, they would only be evil because their personality is so. I highly suggest this book to anyone who enjoys strong characters, high adventure, and an odd love triangle.

I have read all the books in the Blood series and have enjoyed them all. I loved Vicki, Henry and Mike as characters and I think the storylines were interesting and well written. This final book in the series did a good job tying up loose ends and giving us some kind of closure for the characters. I think Ms. Huff has a great future as a writer and I look forward to more of her work.
