Ich bin gerade mal ungefähr beim ersten Drittel des Buches angelangt, aber der Kauf hat sich jetzt schon gelohnt. Das Problem mit Rätselbüchern ist im wesentlichen der Schwierigkeitsgrad, was für manche eine Fingerübung ist, ist für andere ein echtes Problem (ich gehöre wohl eher zu den letzteren:-) ). Ich glaube, ohne es ernsthaft begründen zu können, dass die Aufgabenstellungen das Prädikat:"pädagogisch Wertvoll" verdienen. Ich fand die Aufgabenstellungen bisher spannend und anregend. Die Lösungen sind ausführlich und gut verständlich.Fazit: Ein netter und intilligenter Zeitvertreib. Die fünf Sterne sind meine persönliche Einschätzung. Also bitte nicht entäuscht sein, wenn Sie den Schwierigkeitsgrad dann zu leicht finden. Für mich eine perfekte Ergänzung zu Die Hühnchen von Minsk: Und 99 andere hübsche Probleme.Gruss

Excellent selection of problems and very explanatory and detailed solutions. This gets to the ideas behind many of the popular methods in probability, like maximum likelihood. The concepts are given centerstage and provide insights on "how to think" about many problems in probability.

This book actually has 56 great problems in probability as well as very detailed solutions.

Most (if not all) do *not* require advanced mathematics but do require some clever thinking. A lot of these problems could be tackled by high school students and some of these problems will make PhDs blush!
