What a gem!, 20. November 2008
With an unimitable sense of humor, personal integrity and deep wisdom this book is both enlightening and entertaining. I can relate so deeply to the paths the author has taken. Truly inspiring!

a wonderful read. it feels honest and that honesty captures the humour of life. while the very ending left me uneasy, the entire journey has left me impressed. many pages of my copy have permanently folded corners.
A lovely, entertaining, spellbinding book!, 1. April 2008
I agree with all the Halali's for Elisabeth Gilbert's masterpiece. It's a real treasure: witty, ingenious, in many parts deeply moving, honest and by the way a real heart strengthener. The only thing I have to complain about it is the tiny print of the paperback edition. I have to rest my eyes after every five pages.Still, I have to go on reading, it's extremely charming, hard to lay down.
Not bad but was let down by the feeling surrounding the ending., 24. Januar 2008
I found it to be a spritually uplifing book that I could hardly put down, but feel she could have ended the book before she met the woman, Wayan the healer. The tale of Wayan drug the book down.

I am another of those readers who read Gilbert's book in three days: spent a day reading each of the three sections--experiences in Italy, those in India, and those in Bali. Each day I felt transported to those countries, getting to know the locals far more than I ever could have were I to sightsee in the cities myself. Was like reading a friend's letters home, a friend with a great sense of humor. As someone separated from her husband, I was really surprised and consoled that my feelings and constant thoughts of what happened to "us" were mirrored in Gilbert's own honest reflections about her failed relationships. Made me realize that everything takes time, and that that is normal. The book helped me heal some of my own wounds, in addition to taking me to exotic lands.I could have used a bit bigger print than the paperback offered. Had to take breaks to rest my eyes and neck.
